Uptown depicts a colorful community street scene as experienced by the youth that live in the area. Needham led the young artists through a six month series of foundational drawings, paintings and writing exercises to create this vibrant series of five murals.

Highlights

Uptown is one if eight significant public artworks that define Aurora’s East End Arts District, a 16-block area located generally along the historic commercial corridor from Clinton to Geneva streets on East Colfax Avenue. Public art in the District reinvigorates Aurora’s orignial downtown.

Commissioned by the City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program. Funding made possible by a Community Development Block Grant received by the Urban Renewal Divsion.
