The Coralline Crag at Broom Pit, is extremely fossiliferious. It is rich in a wide variety of molluscs and bryozoans. You will be sure to come home with plenty of finds. The shells are in excellent condition and some are very large. A site definitely worth visiting.

Access

Broom Pit is near Orford. You can find it to the West of the village in the woods known as ‘The Broom’. From Orford, if you drive South-West, out of the village and take the narrow road North West when you get to Richmond Farm. The narrow road will take you to the edge of the woods, where there is plenty of parking. You will see a small trackway through the woods. This site is situated on PRIVATE land, and you must seek permission to visit, or join on an organised groups.
