The Experience
In a storefront in downtown Tacoma, the Children’s museum offers hands-on activities in a fun, colorful space. Kids can grow a garden and sell their plastic fruit and veggies at a kid-sized farmer’s stand, create an art project, put on a play, curl up with a good book in a book nook or explore physics with fun gears and gadgets. In comparison with the Seattle Children’s museum, the Children’s Museum of Tacoma is less expensive, less crowded and well worth the trip.
Features
One of the best parts of the museum is a well-stocked art studio filled with materials and equipment. The museum provides instructions on a “project of the month” such as collage and, with their parent’s help, even toddlers can make an art project they’ll be proud of. The studio also features a sink so you can wash off messy little hands when they are done.
